3 most disturbing movies of 2013 that will blow your mind
19/May 3 most disturbing movies of 2013 that will blow your mind

I have personally compiled of 5 socially awkward movies that had been released in the year 2013. The theme of each of these movies was disturbing and against the norms of the society, however each movie taught me some valuable lessons.

IMDb rating: 6.2/10
Genre: Drama
Cast: Naomi Watts, Robin Wright, Xavier Samuel, James Frecheville
Review: I watched this movie during my 5th semester’s finals and it haunted me for several days. The story is about two best friends who grow up together in small town by the ocean. They both start with a secret affair with each other’s sons and later when their affairs are exposed to each other, they agree to accept it and go on with how things have to come to be. There are no doubts about how amazing a production Adore turned out to be in terms of acting and the scripts. However, the whole idea was going against the every norms of the society. There were times whole watching the movie where I just felt disgusted by how sickening the whole story was while there other times where I was really impressed by how successfully the producers managed to deliver such a controversial story with such perfection. All in all I would like to give a spoiler for those who take these things very seriously, Adore is definitely on my list of most disturbing movies.
2) HER

IMDb rating: 8.1/10
Genre: Romance, Sci-fi
Cast: Joaquin Phoenix, Amy Adams, Scarlett Johansson
Review: I have yet another disturbing movie for you guys and its been quite a hit on the box-office with an IMDb rating of 8.1. The movie is about a lonely man who just got out of a bad marriage and falls in love with his interactive computer software “Samantha” (read Scarlet). The reason why I have this movie on my radar is because of the excessive dosage of phone sex and perverted dialogues. I mean the very concept of falling in love with a computer is sickening and adding sex to that makes it all more disturbing. All in all, the movie did become quite a success and generated a lot of money for its producers.

STOKER photo

IMDb rating: 6.9/10
Genre: Drama, Mystery
Cast: Mia Wasikowska, Nicole Kidman, Matthew Goode
Review: I only watched this movie because I am possibly the biggest Nicole Kidman fan. Stoker came out to be quite a shocker because apparently there seemed nothing wrong with it. It was only until the credits started rolling when I realized my life would never be the same now. Based upon an evil murderer uncle who returns to his brother’s widow and daughter on his funeral and takes them both by his charm, Stoker was one hell of thriller and kept me at toes till the very end. The movie couldn’t do well on the box office but I would personally rate it as 8.3/10 because of excellent script and outstanding performances by all the 3 lead actors.
