HOW TO MAKE MONEY FROM HOME IF YOU’RE A PET LOVER
27/Jun HOW TO MAKE MONEY FROM HOME IF YOU’RE A PET LOVER

According to a survey conducted in 2012 on the ownership of pets in the US nearly 36.5% households own dogs, 30.4% own cats and 3.1%, 1.5% own birds and horses respectively. From these stats one can easily deduce the very fact that all these pet owners might be having trouble looking after their pets 24/7.

If you love animals, especially dogs and cats and want to make some easy money over your summer break from college, I can help you shortlist some temporary career options.

  • The groomer

The groomer

You’ll be surprised to find out the number of people who are getting late for their pet appointments at the parlor for a nice bubble bath and fur cleansing or the veterinary surgeon for a medical checkup. If you like dressing up and going to fancy pet grooming parlors or if you like doing that at home, you should immediately advertise that over your facebook account or post flyers in your neighborhood. With in no time you’ll be contacted by several willing owners desperate for your help and assistance.

  • The walker

The walker

If you’re an outgoing person who loves to roam aimlessly in the streets of Chicago at night and enjoy the city lights you can definitely walk them pets. Word of mouth and a little push advertisement over facebook and twitter will definitely get you started. This way you can walk a dozen of dogs all at the same time and earn good deal of money. You don’t even have to compromise your social life, your friends can tag along and assist you for free or you could split the money equally. If things go well you can start up your own dog/cat walking business.

  • The Sitter

The Sitter

If you’re the indoor kind who likes to avoid strangers on the sidewalk or people in general you can babysit little pups or kittens. Now this can go two ways. You can either go to your client’s place and sit the pet(s) at his/her place. This might be little unsafe for you if you’re not comfortable with new places where you have to respect your boundaries. Of course you cannot wear pajamas at a clients place. You could also sit the pets at your own place. You can offer your clients the pickup service where you could both pick the pets from their place and walk them to yours or your client could do that for you. This way you can sit multiple pets of multiple clients at a time.

  • The trainer

The trainer

In addition to the basic sitting and walking services, if you’re good with handling pets you could offer training services as well. This way you can charge a premium for the training part in addition to the usual rate for walking and sitting. You could also offer your clients the service of taking their pets to pet clinics and pet grooming parlors. With each value added service you can charge a little extra to your usual fees.
