01/Jun Top Ten Ways To Prevent Baby From Getting Colic

The worst time in my life is when my little one gets colic and screams on the top of his voice. Poor thing he cannot tell what’s bothering him and every time it takes me a minute or two to realize that he is colic and until then he cries on the top of his voice. I guess it is very painful for him as he holds his breath and screams like crazy. Therefore, I decide to take precautions so that my baby does not get colic and is safe and healthy.

If you too have a newborn baby and want to be sure that your baby does not get colic you should try the following methods. Most of the given below tips are for breast feeding moms.

  1. Maintain the right position during breast feeding

Whenever you are feeding your kid make sure his head and neck are a little higher than the rest of his body. Keep him inclined or keep a pillow under his head during feeding so that the milk is not stuck in tracheal canal. When we feed the baby when he is laying straight then the milk stays in the tracheal canal and afterwards allows air to accumulate that goes to the stomach and results in the baby getting colic.

  2. Make him burp after every feed

another way to prevent your baby from getting colic is making him burp after every feed. I know it is hard and demanding to take care of a baby but you need to give him proper attention. Every time you feed him, you must pick him up and make him burp. You can do this by rubbing your hand slowly on his backbone.

  3. Make sure you do not get colic

babies who are on mother feed get colic because the mom gets colic. Whatever happens to the mother will happen to the baby. Make sure you chew your food properly specially the foods that take long to digest like beans and other such stuff. If you eat right and chew your food properly, you will digest whatever you eat. Never drink water at the end of the meal if you have to drink it drink at the beginning or during the meal.
